The Department of Statistics was established in the middle of the 1970s. The department was approved by the College of Natural Science in January of 1980 and 40 students entered the department in March of that year. The department joined the general graduate school in 1981 and became the College of Science and Engineering in that year. The masters program was opened in March of 1989. The faculty is made up of five professors and they are teaching courses in Operation Research, Bayesian Statistical Analysis, Nonparametric Statistics, Probability Theory and Calibration. This department has a Computation Lab with 70 pentium-computers and multi media consoles connected to the Internet. The students can enter the graduate school and find work in industrial labs. Four graduates have become professors and the others have found employment in laboratories. After graduation, 70% of the students get the jobs in the fields of industry, about 30% out of those students work in the computation industry.
