The Department of Chemical Engineering, which was opened in 1993, contributes to chemical engineering in preparation for the 21st century and trains professional chemical engineers who will play a pivotal role in Korea and local industries. This department has a competent faculty to adapt to recent field knowledge and theory, and since 1997, a graduate school master's course has been opened to concentrate on education and academic research. Since 1998, the number of undergraduate admissions has been increased to 60, and graduate school courses have been promoted to general graduate schools. Currently, five full-time faculty members are conducting practical research activities in close contact with industries as well as national research tasks, especially in polymer injection, fluid movement, separation process, environmental and energy engineering, bioengineering, reaction engineering, and control engineering.
